Actually, from April 1 this year, new rules for PAN application will be implemented across India. These changes will impact documentation, forms and the entire application process. Before this, you have a golden opportunity till March 31, 2026 to get a PAN card immediately through your Aadhaar card only. This is because when the new rules come into effect from April 1, 2026, you will need additional documents like birth certificate. The entire process is completely online and free, and is based on e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer), making it complete in just a few minutes.
Process to make PAN card immediately from Aadhar card
**Visit Website:** Visit the official e-filing website of the Income Tax Department (https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/).
**Select ‘Instant e-PAN’:** On the homepage, click on “Instant e-PAN” given in the “Quick Links” section.
**Get New PAN:** Select the option of “Get New PAN”.
**Enter Aadhaar Information:** Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number, accept the terms and conditions, and click “Continue”.
**OTP Verification:** Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
**Verify Information:** Double check the information shown as per your Aadhaar record and submit the application. **Download:** Upon successful application submission, you will receive an acknowledgment number; Shortly thereafter, you can return to the same portal to download your ‘e-PAN’.
