Volcano. A wonderful confluence of reverence, faith and devotion was witnessed today on the auspicious occasion of Varuthini Ekadashi at Jwalamukhi’s Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Bohan. On this auspicious day, there was a rush of devotees in the temple premises since morning and the whole atmosphere echoed with the chants of “Hare Ram-Hare Krishna” and devotion to Vishnu. The doors of the temple were opened for the devotees from Brahma Muhurta in the morning, where special decoration of Lord Lakshmi Narayan was done along with formal worship. The consecration of the deity was performed by the priests amid Vedic mantras and religious rituals, which was witnessed by a large number of devotees. The process of bhajan-kirtan continued in the temple throughout the day, in which local artists and bhajan troupes enthralled the devotees with their melodious performances. Due to the special importance of Varuthini Ekadashi fast on this occasion, devotees observed the fast with full devotion and worshiped Lord Vishnu. It is believed that fasting on this Ekadashi destroys all sins and brings happiness and prosperity in life. This was the reason why youth, elders and women all reached the temple in large numbers and participated in the worship.
Special arrangements were made by the temple committee for the convenience of the devotees. Systematic queues were arranged for distribution of Prasad, refreshments and darshan, so that the devotees do not have to face any inconvenience. Volunteers also handled the arrangements with service spirit and played an important role in making the entire event a success.
This day long religious event not only gave new energy to faith but also gave a beautiful message of social unity and brotherhood in the area. On this holy festival of Varuthini Ekadashi, the crowd of devotees gathered at Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Bohan, proved that even today religion and devotion have a special place in people’s lives.
