Mumbai, January 7 (). Different claims are being made by different political parties regarding the post of Mayor in BMC elections. On one hand, claims are being made from some parties to become Muslim mayor, on the other hand, claims of a mayor coming from Marathi community are also coming to the fore. Amidst all these claims, NCP (SP) leader Clyde Crasto said that the Mayor of Mumbai will be made only by the one who really wants to serve the city.
While talking to in Mumbai, he said that only the one who really wants to serve the city will become the Mayor of Mumbai. Nothing will be achieved by talking about whether the mayor will be Marathi or Muslim. The one who serves Mumbai will become the mayor. There is no talk from various political parties that only the one who serves the people will become the mayor.
On the strategy of NCP (SP) regarding BMC elections, he said that our strategy is such that we do not need to tell it to everyone. We implement it as per our need, but the point is that it has been 6-7 years since BMC elections were held in Mumbai. He alleged that BJP had opened its own mini office in BMC. People have understood what BJP is doing. The objective of our party is clear that in future we have to work in the interest of the people.
On the release of the draft list of SIR in UP, he said that we have raised questions many times regarding SIR as to what the Election Commission is actually doing. You are removing names of illegal voters, but we have asked how this is being done and no answer has been given. Now such a large number of voters are being removed in UP, so who are those people? If he was in the voter list then how did he come? How are the improvements being made? The Election Commission should answer these questions.
He said that questions are being raised again and again on the Election Commission and answers to the issues are not being found. Those voters were in the voter list, who are now being removed by the Commission. Why was this not seen when voting took place in 2014, 2019 and 2024? The Election Commission will have to look at all these things and answer.
