Operation Sindoor Memorial Run: Brave men of Air Force and Army ran for 88 hours

New Delhi . Last year, Indian forces had destroyed terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation of Indian forces under Operation Sindoor lasted for about 88 hours. Its strategic and military effects were extremely wide-ranging. On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force organized ‘Operation Sindoor – 88 Hours Commemorative Run’ from 7 May to 10 May in New Delhi. This special event was organized to commemorate the first anniversary of 88 hours of successful air operations conducted by the Indian Air Force. According to the Defense Ministry, these operations had demonstrated the Indian Air Force’s ability to deliver precise and decisive strikes. A total of 600 runners including the Indian Air Force, Indian Army and civilian volunteers participated in this 88-hour long continuous relay race. In this, soldiers and officers from various commands of the Indian Air Force participated enthusiastically.
The active participation of citizen volunteers also made the event more inspiring. The race started on 7th May 2026 at 1:05 pm from India Gate. It is noteworthy that last year around this time, attacks on terrorist hideouts were carried out. The Air Officer in charge of administration inaugurated the event by showing the green flag. On May 10, 2026, at 5 pm, the Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh welcomed the runners at the Air Force Station in New Delhi. The event also ended here by welcoming the runners.
The race route passed through many prominent places in Delhi. This included India Gate, Brigadier Hoshiar Singh Marg, Vayu Bhawan, Nehru Park and New Moti Bagh Marg. The civil administration also provided significant support during the entire event, due to which this huge program could be conducted smoothly. According to the Indian Air Force, the main objective of the event was to strengthen solidarity and team spirit among the Air Force personnel. Its main goal was also to increase awareness and confidence in the Indian Armed Forces among the common citizens.
On this occasion, the Indian Air Force Jazz Band also gave a live performance at Nehru Park on the morning of 10 May. This presentation, which lasted from 6:30 am to 8 am, filled the attendees with patriotism and enthusiasm and made the atmosphere energetic. Speaking on the occasion, the Indian Air Force said that ‘Operation Sindoor – 88 Hour Commemorative Run’ was not just an event to commemorate a military achievement, but also became a symbol of strong partnership, discipline, dedication and national pride between the military and civil society.
