New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the fourth edition of ‘India Energy Week 2026’ through virtual medium. On this occasion, PM Modi described India as the world’s biggest opportunity for investment in the energy sector and said that the country is now riding on the ‘Reforms Express’ and is implementing reforms rapidly. He said that there is a potential for investment of about 500 billion dollars in India’s energy sector. Prime Minister Modi said in his address that today India is among the top-5 petroleum products exporters in the world and is exporting petroleum products to more than 150 countries. He said that this capacity of India can play an important role in meeting global energy needs. PM Modi said that ‘India Energy Week’ has become a global platform for dialogue and action in a very short time. He said that India is the fastest growing major economy in the world, hence the demand for energy products is continuously increasing here, which is creating huge opportunities for investors. Representatives from about 125 countries have participated in this program organized in Goa.
The Prime Minister said that the India-EU Free Trade Agreement complements the trade agreements signed with India-UK and EFTA. This agreement represents about 25 percent of global GDP and about a third of global trade. This will not only strengthen trade and supply chains, but will also deepen investors’ confidence in India.
PM Modi said that the government aims to expand India’s exploration area to 10 lakh square kilometers. Improvements in laws and regulations have been made based on suggestions received from the last India Energy Week. He assured that investing in India’s exploration sector will increase the profitability of companies. Along with this, he said that India ranks second in the world in refining capacity and is moving towards reaching the first position soon.

PM Modi said that due to India’s large population and rapidly growing economy, the demand for petrochemical products will continuously increase. This will require energy infrastructure on a large scale. Many new investment opportunities are also emerging in downstream activities.
The Prime Minister said that India is no longer limited to just energy security, but is rapidly working on the mission of energy self-reliance. The government is creating a transparent and investor-friendly environment to increase domestic hydrocarbon production and global cooperation.
Along with this, PM Modi appealed to the global investors and said, “Make in India, Innovate in India, Scale with India and Invest in India.”
More than 75,000 energy professionals from more than 120 countries are expected to attend the three-day event. Its objective is to strengthen energy security, attract investment and find effective solutions for decarbonization.
