In another major action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan has caught a Patwari of the Revenue Department red-handed taking bribe. The accused Patwari was arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 12,000.
According to sources, a total bribe deal of Rs 15,000 was fixed in the case, out of which Rs 12,000 was being taken as the first installment. The plan was to collect the remaining amount later.
ACB officials said that after receiving the complaint, a confidential investigation was conducted into the entire matter and after the allegations were confirmed, a trap was planned. After this, as soon as the Patwari accepted the money at the designated place, the team caught him red handed.
During the action, the ACB team also recovered the bribe amount from the spot and have taken the accused into custody and started interrogation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was demanding money illegally in exchange for any revenue work.
ACB officials say that the campaign against corruption will continue and bribery will not be tolerated at any level. The accused is also being interrogated whether any other person is also involved in this case or it was his sole role.
After this action there has been a stir in the Revenue Department. Even at the departmental level, information about the matter has been given to higher officials.
Local people and the complainant have appreciated this action of ACB and expressed hope that such steps will increase transparency in government work.
At present, a case has been registered against the accused Patwari under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further legal action is being taken.
