Washington. US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Iran and America are very close to reaching a peace agreement. However, this is not the first time that the US President has made this claim regarding the ceasefire agreement. Even before this, Trump has said many times that the talks between the two countries have reached the final stage of the agreement. US President Trump said this in an interview given to NBC. President Trump further said that there is still disagreement on some things, which do not even seem necessary. He said that Iran has already agreed to a condition in which it promises not to make nuclear weapons. However, Trump made it clear that he wants Iran to give up the right to acquire such weapons through other means. Italian news agency Adnkronos reported that Iran initially protested somewhat and then stopped doing so.
Trump asked Israel to conduct more surgical raids on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
“I want people in Lebanon to have a better life. I want to see more targeted attacks against Hezbollah. I think it should be more surgical,” he said in the interview.
On Sunday, another Israeli raid in Beirut killed two people and injured 11 others. More than 3,560 people have been killed in Israeli air raids on Lebanon since the new fighting began on March 2, according to the latest official data.
According to the Israeli military, 29 soldiers and one civilian contractor were killed in Lebanon. Trump said he has never spoken directly to Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, but the Iranian leader is taking part in the process of reaching an agreement to end the war.
In an interview given to NBC, the US President described Mojtaba Khamenei as more intelligent than his father Ali Khamenei. Let us tell you, Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an attack by America and Israel on February 28.
Trump also described Mojtaba Khamenei as a courageous man. The US President said, “He is very seriously injured. In such a situation, he also shows courage. If many people were facing such serious injuries, they would not ask, ‘How is our situation with America?’ He had other concerns in his mind. So I would say that this person has a special kind of courage. “However, he is actually very seriously injured.”
Trump said that Iran’s new leadership is more intelligent. He reiterated that he was open to direct talks with the new Supreme Leader and said, “If he wanted, I would do so, but I have never talked to him directly.”
The United States will cooperate with Iran to recover and dispose of its enriched uranium, following an agreement between Washington and Tehran to end the war that began on February 28.
However, if an agreement is not reached, the US will further weaken the Iranian military by recovering the uranium itself. Trump said, “If we reach an agreement that vindicates us, we will cooperate. We will use our equipment and we will take and destroy the uranium, whether it’s at the site or we take it somewhere else.” But we will not allow anyone to shoot at us, okay?
He finally said, “If we do not reach an agreement, we will destroy the uranium stocks very strictly by military means.”
