Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026 will place Punjab among the top industrial states of India: Sanjeev Arora

Chandigarh. Reiterating the Punjab Government’s strong commitment towards industrial development and investment facilitation, Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Energy and Local Government Sanjeev Arora today inaugurated the new Dairy Feed Plant of Cargill Pvt. Ltd. set up at a cost of ₹300 crore at Industrial Park, Wazirabad (Mandi Gobindgarh). Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that under the visionary leadership of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, large scale industrial investments are coming to the state through the “Invest Punjab” initiative. These investments are creating employment opportunities for the youth and giving impetus to the overall economic development of the state. He said that the growing investor confidence is an indication that Punjab is becoming a preferred destination for investment especially in the agriculture and food processing sectors. The State Government is fully committed to ensure business-friendly ecosystem through progressive policies and peaceful industrial environment and provide all possible support.
Spread over 15 acres, the plant has an annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh metric tonnes and is the largest dairy feed plant in South Asia. This is Cargill’s second major unit in Punjab after Bathinda, which will further strengthen the agro-industrial value chain of the state. Cargill management appreciated the tireless efforts of Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora in setting up the plant.
The Minister said that this plant will prove to be extremely beneficial for dairy farmers as high quality animal feed will be available locally, which will increase milk production, quality and income of farmers. This scientifically developed feed will improve the health and productivity of animals and take Punjab’s dairy sector to new heights. He expressed confidence that just as Punjab is called the granary of the country, similarly it will soon become the leading state in supplying milk to other states.
Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the “Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026” to be held in Mohali from March 13 to 15 will attract large participation from national and international investors. He reiterated that the government is continuously striving to establish Punjab among the top industrial states of the country. He said that the industry in Punjab is continuously progressing and the industrialists have expressed satisfaction over the active and progressive policies of the state.
Earlier, local MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai said that the establishment of the Kargil plant will provide employment opportunities to about 1,000 youth of the area. He said that availability of high quality feed would significantly improve the health of animals and milk quality.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Syal Grewal, David Webster (Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer), Rishi Verma (Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary, Chair Asia Pacific Region), Adriano Marcon (President, Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health) and Ravinder Balan (Senior Managing Director, Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health, India and President, Cargill India) were also present.
