Lucknow . Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to the country’s former Home Minister and first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, ‘Bharat Ratna’ Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on his death anniversary.
The Chief Minister offered flowers at his statue at Lok Bhavan and described him as a great son of Mother India, a renowned freedom fighter, a skilled advocate and an able administrator. CM said that the works of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant are a source of inspiration for us, who is guiding us. During his time, he took many steps for the development and improvement of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant was born in present-day Uttarakhand, at that time Uttarakhand was a part of the United Province. On the call of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, he left advocacy and jumped into the freedom struggle. When the country was a slave, he was selected as the Premier of Uttar Pradesh in 1937. Everyone remembers Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant ji as the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
CM Yogi said that following the foundation of development and vision presented by Pant ji as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh today remains the main base of India’s economy. Whatever UP is able to do today, the thinking of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant is behind it. During his time, he took many steps for the development and improvement of Uttar Pradesh. He gave invaluable services to the country as Home Minister.
He played an important role in the promotion and propagation of the official language Hindi. He was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1957 for his invaluable contribution to the country’s independence and valuable service to Uttar Pradesh and the country. The works of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant are guiding us even today.
