Amritsar . Punjab Police has achieved great success against drug trafficking. The police have busted a cross-border narco-trafficking network and arrested two active members. 7 kg 630 grams of heroin and Rs 21,800 in cash have been seized from them. This action took place at Chheharta police station in Amritsar, where a case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Initial investigation by the police revealed that the arrested accused were in touch with a Dubai-based handler through virtual numbers. This handler used to help in transporting the consignment of heroin from across the border. He used to give instructions about the pickup locations and further supply chain. The handler is linked to several narcotics networks and is also said to be involved in a major NDPS case involving the recovery of 43 kg heroin earlier.
Punjab Police has shared information about this action on its official X handle. Police say that they stand firm on their resolve to completely eliminate narco-terrorism and drug trafficking networks and make Punjab a safe and drug-free Punjab. Interrogation of the arrested smugglers is ongoing and investigation has been intensified to trace other members of the network and forward links.
According to the police, this action is part of the ongoing war against drugs in Punjab, in which the police are arresting drug smugglers and recovering huge quantities of narcotics on a daily basis.
According to the information received, local people have appreciated this success and said that such action is helping in saving the youth from drugs.
Apart from this, the police have also appealed to the people to immediately share any information about drug smuggling with the police, so that such networks can be rooted out. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.
