Lucknow. ‘Rail Roko’ movement has started in Fatehgarh Sahib, Uttar Pradesh. This movement is being carried out on the Ambala-Ludhiana railway track demanding the release of captive lions. Qaumi Insaaf Morcha started Rail Roko movement in Madhopur of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on Saturday demanding the release of captive Singhs. Since morning, representatives of various sectarian, social and farmer organizations and a large number of supporters gathered at Gurudwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib. After this, everyone marched towards Madhopur Chowk and started the dharna after reaching Ambala-Ludhiana railway track. As part of the movement, demonstrations are being held by sitting on the railway tracks from 11 am to 2 pm, due to which there is a possibility of rail traffic being affected.
The agitators say that the captive Singhs, who had completed their sentence a long time ago, have not been released yet, which is contrary to the principles of justice. The protesters demanded the early release of the captive Singhs and appealed to the Central and Punjab governments to take concrete decisions in this matter.
During the movement, the leaders of the Morcha said that their main demands include the release of Jagtar Singh Hawara, Balwant Singh Rajoana, Jagtar Singh Tara, Paramjit Singh Bhiora, MP Amritpal Singh and removal of names of about 20 thousand Sikhs included in the black list. He says that many prisoners have completed their sentence as per the legal process, but despite this it is not fair to keep them in jails.
Talking to journalists, the leaders of the Morcha alleged that the Central and Punjab governments are continuously adopting an indifferent attitude on the issue of the release of captive Singhs. He said that due to this there has been an atmosphere of anger and despair in the Sikh community for a long time. The leaders said that this movement is not of any one organization but of all the people raising their voice for the demand of justice.
