Jaipur. There was chaos on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Tuesday night near Maujmabad in Dudu area when a trailer collided with a trailer collision in a truck filled with LPG cylinder. After the accident, explosions started in cylinders one by one. The sounds of the blasts were heard up to 10 kilometers away. Two people are reported to have died and five people were reported injured in the incident. Seven vehicles were hit by fire in the accident. The incident is reported to be around 10 pm. According to eyewitnesses, a truck full of cylinders was trying to turn from an illegal cut on the highway, when the speeding trailer coming from behind hit him. The truck caught fire immediately after the collision and the flames surrounded the entire car. Within a few minutes the cylinders started bursting and the flames woke up to the sky. The fire was so fierce that a petrol pump located 500 meters away on the highway was immediately evacuated. Electricity supply in the area was also stopped as a precautionary measure. Several fire engines arrived on the spot and the fire was controlled after about an hour of hard work.
Police officer Deepak Khandelwal, who reached the spot, said that the traffic on both sides was completely stopped after the accident. “The frequent bursting of cylinders was having difficulty in rescue work. The fire has now been controlled,” he said.
Those injured in the accident have been sent to SMS Hospital Jaipur with the help of ambulance. The condition of the injured is said to be critical.
Officers handled the situation
On receiving the information of the incident, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed grief over the accident and gave instructions to monitor relief works. CM sent Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa and MLA Kailash Verma on the spot.
Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa said, “The truck overturned and caught fire. The driver and the Khalasi are missing, their search is on. The fire has now been controlled.”
The district administration has appealed to the nearby villagers to stay away from the area. The Collector and SP reached the spot and reviewed the situation and instructed the rescue teams to be vigilant.
A panic atmosphere around
This accident in the silence of the night caused panic in the entire area. People came out of the houses, many villagers recorded the video of the fire from their mobiles. The flames were so high that they were visible up to 10 kilometers away.
After the accident, there was a long jam on the highway. Till morning, traffic was diverted from second lane. At present, the teams of the police and the fire department are present on the spot. Search is on for the driver and the Khalasi. Information has been given to the families of the injured. The administration has ordered an inquiry into the accident.
