Sriganganagar. A case of alleged assault with a BJP MLA has come to light during a meeting in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan on Thursday. After this incident, political turmoil has intensified and the police have detained three people.

According to the information, this incident took place in the ‘Vidhayak Seva Kendra’ located in Bihani College campus in the afternoon. Here MLA Jaideep Bihani was holding a meeting with officials regarding the ongoing drinking water crisis in the city. During the meeting there was an argument between the MLA and the officials present there. These included Jagannath Bairwa, assistant engineer of Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project, SoM and Shahnawaz, project manager associated with a private company.
It is being told that as the argument escalated, the matter reached a scuffle and the officers pushed and shoved the MLA. It is alleged that during this period the MLA was also slapped.
MLA Jaideep Bihani said, “I was just asking the officials whether they were concerned about the public or not. As soon as I said this, AEN Jaganlal Bairwa attacked me. He broke my glasses and caused injury under my eye.
“I immediately called the police,” he said. Police reached the spot and took three officers into custody.
The MLA said that an FIR is being lodged against all three. He said that he will also complain about this matter to the Assembly Speaker, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary.
After the complaint, Jawahar Nagar police station has detained Jagannath Bairava, Shahnawaz and planning manager of SOEM for questioning. Police station in-charge Devendra Singh said that the accused are being interrogated and the investigation of the case is going on.
There was chaos at the spot after the incident. Local people of the old population area came to intervene and pulled out the MLA. The MLA’s supporters also reached the spot, due to which there was again a scuffle between the officials present there and the supporters. Police force had to be deployed to control the situation.
There is resentment among BJP workers after this alleged attack. Besides, questions are also being raised regarding the behavior and accountability of officials associated with government projects.
