Jaipur/Churu. The Transport Department has set a big example regarding road safety rules in Rajasthan. RTO Inspector in Churu has arrested Jhunjhunu BJP MLA Rajendra Singh Bhambu’s company ‘RSB Infra Pvt. Ltd.’ But a challan of Rs 25 lakh has been issued. This action has been taken due to lack of necessary public facilities and safety standards on Rajgarh-Bhaleri State Highway (SH-06). Strictness of rules irrespective of authority Usually, highway maintenance is checked by agencies like NHAI or PWD, but this is probably the first case when an RTO inspector has imposed such a huge fine on a maintenance firm. The investigation team found that basic arrangements necessary for the safety of passengers were missing on this 133 kilometer long highway.
A fine of Rs 25 lakh was imposed on these shortcomings.
RTO inspector Robin Singh’s team found negligence on 25 different points during inspection, for each of which a penalty of Rs 1 lakh was prescribed:
Lack of emergency services: Neither an ambulance was present at the toll booth nor a hydra crane to clear traffic at the time of accidents.
Lack of symbolic boards: Warning signs, night reflectors and emergency number boards were not found at junctions on the highway.
Security lapses: No system of highway patrolling, which is essential for the safety of passengers, was found.
The road is guaranteed till 2026
This road was completed in July 2020 at a cost of about Rs 215 crore. As per the rules, this road is in Defect Liability Period till 2026, which means that the entire responsibility of its maintenance and safety rests with the contractor company. The department has issued this challan under Section 198A of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Strong message from the department
Inspector Robin Singh clarified that “the safety of the general public is of paramount importance.” If the rules are violated, whether it is the MLA’s company or anyone else, strict action will be taken. Due to this action, the toll collecting firm ‘KKC Sikar’ has also been held jointly guilty.
