Rajasthan Weather Diary: Relief bids farewell, heat knocks

Jaipur. The era of hide-and-seek clouds and cold winds is about to end in Rajasthan. The sun has started becoming bitter in the courtyard of Marudhara. In the last 24 hours, as soon as the sky cleared, sunshine has made its presence felt, due to which the temperature in the state has started rising.

Even though the mercury in Jaipur remained 5.5 degrees below normal (30.8°C) on Thursday and people enjoyed the pleasant weather, this calm is the lull before a big storm… no, but a ‘heat’. The Meteorological Department has warned that the mercury will jump in the next two weeks and in many cities it may cross the psychological level of 40 degrees Celsius. How is the situation there?
Hottest Barmer: In the last 24 hours, Barmer was the hottest area of the state with 37.5 degrees.
Mood of cities: In cities like Jaipur, Kota, Barmer and Pilani, the scorching sun has started scorching since morning.
Movement of clouds: There is a possibility of clouds camping over Bikaner division on April 10 and 11, which may provide partial relief, but the sky will remain completely clear and warm in the rest of Rajasthan.
Experts’ opinion: “The heat graph will rise”
According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Jaipur Meteorological Center, no major weather system is active at present. A weak western disturbance is definitely active, but it will be limited to Bikaner only. The temperature is certain to rise by 3 to 4 degrees in the coming 14 days.
Stay alert: From the Pink City to the sandy beaches, it’s time to pack a water bottle and escape the midday heat. Rajasthan is now slowly moving towards its real identity i.e. ‘Severe Summer’.
