New Delhi. Tourists were left stranded in the air in the cabins on Monday due to a technical glitch in the Gondola (cable car) service in Jammu and Kashmir’s famous tourist destination Gulmarg. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has praised the security forces for rescuing the tourists safely. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on Twitter, “The successful rescue of 300 tourists trapped in cable cars in Gulmarg reflects the promptness, professionalism, courage and coordination of our disaster relief agencies. The joint rescue team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, NDRF, SDRF and civil administration executed this challenging operation with skill and determination. The nation appreciates the dedication and service of all the personnel involved in this rescue operation.” In fact, on Monday, the service of Gulmarg Gondola between Base Station and Phase-1 Kongdori was suddenly stopped due to a technical fault. Due to this, many tourists got trapped in cable cars hanging in the air. The Indian Army immediately became active after receiving a message from Jammu and Kashmir Police and Gondola Management Authority asking for assistance. Special rescue teams were dispatched from Buttapathri battalion area, who swiftly started the rescue operation despite bad weather. Along with the army, SDRF and other civilian agencies also conducted a joint operation.
To further speed up the relief work, additional vehicles of Gulmarg ATV Association were also deployed. This was done because it was expected to take time for the Gondola service to return to normal. A total of 65 cable cars were affected by the technical glitch.
Due to this malfunction, there was sudden chaos in Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday amidst dense clouds, cold winds and bad weather. Many people got upset due to this technical glitch in the famous Gulmarg Gondola service.
