Ayodhya, June 28 (). On Sunday, the police conducted a search operation at the houses of the eight accused arrested in the case of alleged misappropriation of offerings and donations in the Ram temple. During this, jewelery and important documents were recovered from the house of accused Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav.
On Friday, all eight accused were sent to judicial custody for three days. He will remain in jail till June 29 and will be produced again in the local court on Monday.
According to police sources, some cash and property related documents have also been recovered from the house of Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, an accused associated with the temple management.
The police will complete the assessment of the items recovered from the houses of all the accused by Sunday evening, so that it can be clear what was found from whose house.
After this, late in the night the investigating officer will decide whether police remand of the accused should be sought again during the court appearance on Monday or not.
According to officials, some items have been recovered from the houses of all the accused and at present they are being investigated and verified.
Earlier on Sunday, Tara Devi, neighbor of accused Tinnu Yadav, while talking to , expressed confidence in his innocence, calling him her “brother”. He said, “He is a good person. He is being falsely implicated.”
Meanwhile, Krishnanand Tiwari, neighbor of accused Anukalp Mishra, said, “Whoever is involved in this matter, even if it is my brother (Mishra), whoever has committed theft or wrongdoing, he should be given the harshest punishment. He should be ashamed of his actions, because this is a matter related to God. He has betrayed the trust of crores of devotees.”
He further said, “Although Anukalp Mishra did not seem like such a person, it is not easy to guess someone’s intentions.”
Another neighbor Anurag said that he has known Mishra for about a year. He said, “He had a good nature. Whenever we met, we greeted each other. I don’t know whether he had any evil intentions in his mind or not.”
A case has been registered against a total of eight people in connection with the alleged theft in the temple and all of them have been arrested. An FIR was registered in Ayodhya police station on Thursday on the complaint of Krishna Mohan, a member of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Those named in the case include Ramshankar Yadav, trust employees Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Avinash Shukla and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava.
The case was registered after the three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) in its preliminary report pointed out irregularities at several levels.
Police say that the entire case of alleged theft will be revealed on the basis of interrogation of the accused and CCTV footage. If involvement of other people comes to light during the investigation, action will be taken against them also.
Preliminary investigation has revealed the role of each accused at different levels. Especially the role of Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav is on the special radar of the investigating agencies.
