New Delhi, May 31 (). AATS team of Delhi Police has arrested a wanted and notorious criminal. Officials said the accused is an active associate of the notorious Randeep Bhati gang and was wanted in a murder case registered at Fatehpur Beri police station in Delhi.
According to Delhi Police, the active member of Randeep Bhati gang has been identified as Anuj Chaudhary alias Fighter, who is a resident of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. A semi-automatic pistol, four live cartridges and a stolen scooter were recovered from his possession.
Officials said that as part of continuous efforts to curb the activities of notorious criminals and gang members operating in Delhi-NCR, the AATS team was continuously gathering intelligence about wanted criminals and gang associates. On May 28, specific information was received about the movement of a wanted criminal involved in the Fatehpur Beri murder case. It was expected that he would come to East Delhi with illegal arms and ammunition. Taking immediate action on this information, a special raiding team was formed.
The team immediately acted on the information received, increased surveillance and laid a trap near Paper Market in Ghazipur, Delhi. After repeated efforts, the suspect was spotted and arrested. Sensing the presence of police, he tried to escape. However, after a brief chase and scuffle, the police team successfully overpowered him.
During the search, a semi-automatic pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from him. Further investigation revealed that the scooter that the accused was using was stolen from Lakshmi Nagar area. During sustained interrogation and investigation, it also emerged that the accused was closely associated with the notorious Randeep Bhati gang and was actively involved in several heinous criminal cases in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
According to Delhi Police, he was earlier arrested in 2022 and got bail in 2023. After that, he absconded and evaded arrest. The accused is also wanted in a case registered in Fatehpur Beri related to a murder case. Due to his continuous absconding, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him by the Delhi court. The accused has been arrested in the present case and has been taken on police remand.
