Revanth Reddy surrounded by Hitler's statement, opposition targets Congress

Hyderabad, June 7 (). Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is embroiled in controversy regarding one of his statements. He said that he took inspiration from Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler for the name Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydra). After his statement, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have launched a scathing attack on Congress.

Hydra was established in the year 2024 by the Telangana government with the objective of protecting public properties, disaster management and removing encroachments on government lands in the Hyderabad region. The agency has so far claimed to have freed about 2,182 acres of land by removing encroachments from lakes, drains, parks and government lands, the estimated value of which is said to be Rs 80,000 crore.

However, opposition parties have long been questioning Hydra’s actions and allege that the agency is targeting the houses of the poor. BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has already announced that the first thing his party will decide to do if it returns to power is to eliminate Hydra.

On Revanth Reddy’s statement, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) reacted sharply on social media platform ‘X’. He wrote that the people of Telangana already knew that the Chief Minister’s inspiration was Hitler and that Hydra was his “assassination agency”. He said that BRS always made Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Constitution, Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts and Professor Jaishankar’s dreams the basis of governance.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy also criticized the Chief Minister’s statement, saying that Congress’s “Hitler and Emergency mentality” has once again come to the fore. He said that Revanth Reddy should express his shame over his statement and tender an unconditional apology to the people of Telangana.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Telangana unit president N. Ramachander Rao said that those who follow Hitler also meet the same end. He also challenged the Chief Minister for an open debate on the development works of the Central and State Governments.

Ramchander Rao during a program organized in Mahabubnagar with Union Ministers G. Also criticized the comments made by the Chief Minister on Kishan Reddy and detainee Sanjay Kumar. He said that the Chief Minister’s language is not in keeping with the dignity of his post and reflects arrogance.
