Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the working style and personality of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and said that as much as he is an excellent MP, he is also an excellent Lok Sabha Speaker. Describing Om Birla as dedicated to the Constitution, Prime Minister Modi said that he clearly shows loyalty towards parliamentary traditions and systems.
Prime Minister Modi said that as Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla is not a member of any one party, rather he runs the House rising above both the party and the opposition. He said that whenever he sees Om Birla in the House, he realizes that perhaps it is the effect of coming from the city of education that he plays such a balanced and restrained role. As Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla works like a head of the House who believes in taking everyone along. He handles all the MPs present in the House well and fully respects their feelings and requests. Modi said that Birla’s nature is such that he is one of the speakers who is most respected by MPs. He said that sometimes some members come to the House who come from big families and behave arrogantly or unruly, but even then Om Birla, like a responsible head, handles the entire House with patience. They do not insult anyone and listen to everyone’s sharp and bitter words patiently.
PM Modi further said that one special thing about Om Birla is that he keeps smiling all the time. He always has a sweet smile on his face, which makes his personality even more relaxed. Perhaps this is the reason why he is very dear among all the MPs in the House. The role of Lok Sabha Speaker is very important in a democratic system and Om Birla is fulfilling this responsibility with complete dignity, restraint and balance.
