Mumbai . Nationalist Congress Party (SP) working president and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday rejected all speculations claiming that her party will support the central government’s proposed delimitation bill in the monsoon session of Parliament or is going to join the NDA. In a press conference held in Mumbai, Supriya Sule said that there is no truth in these reports. He clarified that his party has neither received any proposal nor any kind of ‘deal’ regarding the Delimitation Bill. When the official draft of the bill is presented in Parliament, the party will study it in detail and clarify its official stand within 24 hours. Supriya Sule said that a news was published in a reputed newspaper on Wednesday morning, after which many media organizations started running the news that the Sharad Pawar faction is preparing to support the constitutional amendment delimitation bill of the central government. He said that this entire news has been made on the basis of ‘unnamed sources’ and no such official statement was ever issued by the party.
She said, “To avoid any confusion among our workers and allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), before coming here, I spoke to Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, state president Shashikant Shinde, our MLAs and MPs and then came to clarify my position.”
Supriya Sule said that she also spoke to Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal, senior leader Satej Patil and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and informed them about the real situation of the party.
He reiterated, “We have not received any proposal or deal on the delimitation bill. When the bill comes to Parliament, we will study it and give our decision within 24 hours.”
Here, it was also said that the Ajit Pawar faction wants to keep this ministry with itself, due to which there was a strong discussion in the political circles of the alliance that the Sharad Pawar faction may soon formally join the NDA. Some media reports claimed that the party was being proposed to be given the finance ministry in the state government. There may be a situation of disagreement within.
These speculations got further fueled when Jayant Patil met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence ‘Varsha’ on Tuesday night.
However, Supriya Sule completely rejected all these discussions and said, “We have not received any proposal from the NDA and we are not going anywhere. We are where we were before and are working for the public.”
He also answered the questions raised regarding Sharad Pawar sitting in the chamber of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during his recent assembly visit. Supriya Sule said, “Sharad Pawar cannot walk long distances, so he went and sat there. It was Eknath Shinde’s decency that he left the cabinet meeting and welcomed him and presented him a bouquet.”
