Sanand today is a vibrant center of development and innovation: Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the people of Gujarat after his visit to Sanand. He said that Sanand has become a vibrant center of development and innovation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video of the road show on social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday. He did a road show in Sanand on Saturday during his Gujarat tour. PM Modi wrote in the ‘X’ post, “Sanand has seen unprecedented transformation in the last several years. Earlier, some people considered it an ordinary place, but today it has become a vibrant center of development and innovation. Saturday’s road show, which took place on a hot afternoon, shows how much the people of Sanand appreciate the efforts made towards development.”
Earlier, on Saturday, PM Modi inaugurated the Micron ATMP (Assembly, Test, Marking and Packaging) center in Sanand. This historic event, marking the beginning of commercial production, is a significant milestone in India’s journey towards global technology leadership.
The foundation stone of this project was laid in September 2023 and was the first proposal to be approved under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). With a total outlay of over Rs 22,500 crore, construction work started immediately after approval. This reflects the government’s commitment to accelerate strategic semiconductor investment in the country.
Once fully operational, the Sanand plant will have a cleanroom area of approximately 5 lakh square feet and will become one of the largest raised-floor cleanrooms in the world. The plant is designed to serve customers around the world and meet the growing global demand for memory and storage solutions driven by rapid advances in AI and high-performance computing.
The Prime Minister said that in Sanand we are seeing the beginning of a new future. The commencement of commercial production at Micron’s ATMP facility is set to strengthen India’s role in the global technology value chain. The Prime Minister referred to the mindset of ‘New India’, where the shift from policy to production is happening at an unprecedented pace.
He said India has simplified complex regulatory processes to a great extent and has successfully approved advance pricing agreements (APAs) in a matter of a few months. He said that even in developed countries this process usually takes three to five years to complete. “When the intention is clear and there is dedication towards the rapid development of the nation, policies become transparent and decisions gain momentum,” the Prime Minister said.
