The Central Government has taken an important step towards economically empowering rural women. The government’s new digital platform, SHE-LEAPS (Self-Help Entrepreneurs-Livelihoods and Ventures for Prosperity and Sustainability), will play a key role in achieving the target of creating 6 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ across the country. This information was given in an official bulletin released on Wednesday.
**Will help in empowering women**
‘SHE-LEAPS’ is a digital platform designed to empower women associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs) in rural India. Through this platform, women will be able to start, grow their own businesses and track their progress digitally. Additionally, the platform will strengthen livelihoods, industry development and financial inclusion for women. According to the government, the platform will promote agriculture and non-agriculture rural industries with the aim of creating a strong and sustainable rural economy.
**New momentum to ‘Lakhpati Didi’ mission**
According to the factsheet, ‘She-Leaps’ will give new impetus to the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ mission. This will facilitate end-to-end digital tracking of revenue growth and enterprise performance. The government also plans to allocate ₹10 lakh crore over the next five years to benefit women under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme. The government believes that the ‘She-Leaps’ mobile application will play a vital role in the large-scale expansion of women-led industries.
**What facilities will be available?**
According to the government, ‘She-Leaps’ will be implemented in 34 states and union territories. It will support State Rural Livelihood Missions in these areas. The platform will provide real-time data on rural enterprises, leading to a better understanding of economic activities in villages. This will strengthen monitoring at various levels and help in making better policies from local to national level. The government says ‘She-Leaps’ – which brings together digital technology, entrepreneurship and women empowerment – is an important step towards digital transformation in rural India. This will not only increase women’s economic participation, but will also form a strong foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development, as well as expand the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ mission across the country.
