Hisar. Haryana Energy, Transport and Labor Minister Anil Vij said that all the old electricity meters will be replaced in a phased manner across the state and modern smart meters will be installed in their place. He said that just as prepaid and postpaid options are available in mobile services, smart meter system will also be implemented on the same lines, so that consumers will be able to choose prepaid or postpaid system as per their convenience. This will not only improve the power supply system, but will also provide transparent and convenient service to the consumers. Anil Vij was talking to media representatives in Hisar today. He informed that the process of laying underground power cables has been started in Gurugram and Faridabad. According to the circumstances, underground cables will be laid in other areas also, which will avoid problems like falling of poles or breaking of wires from above and will make the power supply more safe and reliable. In response to a question regarding the reforms being done in the Energy Department, Vij said that a strong and accountable system has been developed in the department, as a result of which the situation of power cuts during summer has been controlled to a great extent. He said that all the Superintending Engineers (SEs) have been instructed to provide information every day by 11 am about the reason, duration and circumstances of power cut in their area. He said that electricity supply has been satisfactory in almost the entire state and clarification has been sought from only 6 superintending engineers.
Vij said that according to the demand of electricity, the work of increasing the capacity (upgradation) of all the transformers has been started. Besides, instructions have also been given to raise the sub-stations built at lower levels to prevent unnecessary power cuts due to waterlogging during the rainy season. He also informed that Haryana has received the approval of coal linkage for the new thermal unit being established in Khedar, Hisar, which is a big achievement for the state.
Regarding modernization of Haryana Roadways, Vij said that corrective steps are being taken continuously by the Transport Department. He said that for the convenience of passengers, tracking system is being developed in buses, through which accurate information about the movement of buses will be available. In this direction, digital display panels will be installed at all bus stands and a mobile app is also being developed, through which passengers will be able to get information about the location, route and timing of their bus on mobile only.
He said that efforts to increase the bus fleet are continuing. Besides, the government is also seriously considering increasing the number of electric buses, so that pollution can be controlled and the restrictions imposed on old diesel buses in the NCR region can be avoided.
Reacting to the Union Budget, Anil Vij said that when the Center is strong, the country also becomes strong. He said that this budget lays a strong foundation to achieve the goal of a developed India by the year 2047 and will prove to take the country forward at the “speed of a bullet train”.
