Special address against drug addiction in Municipal Corporation House, Administrator will come on June 27

Chandigarh. On the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a special meeting will be organized in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation House on June 27, in which Punjab Governor and Municipal Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will specially address the House. According to the information released by the Municipal Corporation, this program will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Corporation at 11:30 am, while all the councilors and officers have been instructed to take their seats by 11:15 am. The main objective of this address is said to be to spread awareness against drug addiction and illegal trafficking. Gulab Chand Kataria has been associated with anti-drug campaigns for a long time and on this occasion too, he hopes to alert the youth about the danger of increasing drug addiction in the society. The main house meeting of the Municipal Corporation is already scheduled for June 29, while this special meeting is being held two days before that on June 27. Discussion has intensified in the political and administrative circles of the city regarding two separate meetings, as different opinions are coming forward regarding it.
Congress councilor Jasbir Bunty has raised questions on this decision and said that despite the already scheduled meeting, the justification for calling a separate special meeting is beyond comprehension. He says that this will put additional financial burden on the Municipal Corporation, while the Corporation is already facing financial challenges. He also said that if the Governor is coming to the Municipal Corporation then he should also pay attention to the economic condition of the city, development works and pending financial matters.
The Municipal Corporation administration has started preparations for the program and instructions have been issued to ensure the presence of all councilors and officers. This special meeting is being seen as a social initiative with an anti-drug message, but questions are also being raised over its administrative and financial aspects.
