Hanumangarh. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that women are the pivot of the society, only when they are empowered, the society progresses and the country develops. Calling for awareness of women’s rights, respect and equal opportunities on International Women’s Day, he laid special emphasis on education, health and self-reliance of half the population.
Sharma was addressing the state level program organized on International Women’s Day at Dhan Mandi in Hanumangarh on Sunday. While wishing International Women’s Day, she said that women power is a source of inspiration for all of us. The country’s first tribal woman President Draupadi Murmu and during Operation Sindoor, Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh have made the country proud. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has formulated policies keeping women at the center. He has constructed more than 12 crore toilets under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for the safety and dignity of women. More than 11 crore gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana, more than 70 percent of the houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana being in the name or joint names of women and 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies under the Nari Shakti Vandan Act have paved the way for women upliftment and empowerment.
More than 16 lakh lakhpati didis created in the state
Sharma said that the state government is working with commitment for the empowerment and security of half the population. More than 16 lakh Lakhpati Didis have been created in the state. At the same time, livelihood assistance worth Rs 679 crore has been provided to 1 lakh 39 thousand self-help groups. Under the Chief Minister Ekal Nari Samman Pension Scheme, assistance of Rs 6 thousand 876 crore has been provided to more than 19 lakh women pensioners and under the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana, assistance of about Rs 101 crore has been provided for the marriage of more than 27 thousand girls.
More than 6 lakh girls benefited from Lado Incentive Scheme
The Chief Minister said that LADO Incentive Scheme is playing a big role in developing positive attitude towards health and education of girls. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh is being given in seven installments. Due to which more than 6 lakh girls have benefited so far. Various schemes including Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Ma Voucher Yojana are also playing a strong role in women’s welfare. Sharma said that as a result of the effective efforts of the state government, the average time to complete investigation in cases of atrocities against women has reduced from 128 days in the year 2020 to 52 days. At the same time, there has been a decline of about 10 percent in the cases of atrocities against women in the state as compared to the year 2023.
Rs 500 crore for construction of sheds in Hanumangarh
He said that the state government is ensuring development of all the areas of the state. Farmers of Ganganagar-Hanumangarh region will especially benefit from the additional bonus of Rs 150 on MSP of wheat in the financial year Budget 2026. At the same time, reconstruction work in IGNP and Ganganahar and development of Firozpur feeder has paved the way for the prosperity of farmers. He said that Rs 500 crore has also been given for the construction of sheds in Hanumangarh.
It is ensured that benefits of various public welfare schemes are being availed through DBT.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is ensuring the benefits of various public welfare schemes to women through DBT. A 10 percent increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers, companions and assistants will pave the way for the empowerment of women. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara said that the Chief Minister has given big relief to Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts by reducing the prices of petrol and diesel. At the same time, farmers got a big gift by giving Rs 5 thousand crore for the availability of canal water along with electricity supply.
During this, Sharma laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development works worth more than Rs 1 thousand crore in Hanumangarh. He launched the Lado Protsahan Yojana portal. Transferred the amount through DBT to the beneficiaries under Lado Protsahan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Matritva Poshan Yojana and Girls Distance Education Scheme. Besides, symbolic checks for loan distribution to PM Swanidhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Nari Shakti Udyam Protsahan Yojana and self-help groups were also handed over. Digital launch of Sathin Margdarshak and also distributed awards under Pannadhay Suraksha and Samman Yojana.
Women policemen took over security
Before this, the Chief Minister visited the exhibition of schemes and programs related to women. Here, he hosted a baby shower for pregnant woman Divya and gave her a nutrition kit. Besides, Annaprashan was also done to the 6 month old baby. The Chief Minister also distributed wheelchairs and hearing aids to the disabled people. Women policemen took the responsibility of security at the exhibition and program venue organized in Hanumangarh on International Women’s Day.
MLA Jaideep Bihani, Ganeshraj Bansal, Gurveer Brar, Sanjeev Beniwal and other public representatives and a large number of general public were present in the program. At the same time, women from different districts also joined through VC.
