Chandigarh. Congress national spokesperson Supriya Srinet held a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday and held BJP and RSS responsible in the Ram Temple offering issue. He alleged that this matter is not just about economic irregularities but is a direct attack on the faith of crores of Hindus. Congress national spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said in the press conference that Lord Ram is not only worshiped by Hindus but has also been the idol of saints of different religions and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi. The alleged theft of offerings in the temple is a “big sin” and the moral and administrative responsibility for it should be taken by BJP and RSS as people close to them have been involved in the running of the trust. He said that if there have been irregularities in the management of the Trust, then the people responsible should immediately resign and in their place people with impartial and clean image should be given the responsibility.
Congress spokesperson also sought answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue. He said that the Prime Minister had taken the credit for laying the foundation stone, inauguration and consecration of the Ram temple, hence now his silence on the alleged irregularities is beyond comprehension.
Shrinet alleged that the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust formed by the government was kept out of the ambit of Right to Information (RTI), raising questions on transparency. Demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the entire matter, he said that the sentiments of crores of devotees are involved in this.
During the press conference, Shrinet claimed that temple offerings were allegedly stolen 70 times within 40 days. Taking aim at BJP and RSS, he said that a situation like “Ram in the mouth and knife in the armpit” has been created. He alleged that the people calling themselves protectors of Hindutva have hurt the faith of the people in the name of Lord Ram.
He also raised questions on Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, saying why a private security agency was appointed despite the presence of central and state security forces, while it was allegedly linked to a BJP leader. The people against whom action should be taken are holding press conferences themselves.
On the question of factionalism in Punjab Congress, he said that it is natural to have differences in any political party but at the time of elections all the leaders come together among the public. He clarified that Congress is not a party of any one person and every leader has the right to express his views.
In the presence of Raja Vading, Shrinate announced that Congress will fight the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections keeping the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the ideals of Lord Ram at the center. At the same time, he also questioned BJP’s silence on the film ‘Sutlej’ controversy and said that it gives rise to many doubts.
