T20 series: South African women's team takes unassailable 2-0 lead against Ireland

New Delhi, December 7 (). South Africa women’s cricket team won the second T20 match played against Ireland at Boland Park on Sunday by 65 runs. With this, South Africa has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The first match of the series was played between the two countries at Newlands on 5 December, which South Africa won by 105 runs. Now both the countries will play the final match of the series at Willowmoor Park in Benoni on 10th December.

Talking about the second T20 match played in Paarl, after winning the toss, South Africa women’s team came to bat and scored 201 runs after losing 5 wickets in the stipulated overs.

The opening pair of Sune Luus and Faye Tunnicliffe scored 78 runs in 9.2 overs. Sune Luus was out after scoring 37 runs in 24 balls with the help of 6 fours.

From here Tunnicliffe made a 38-run partnership with captain Laura Wolvaardt for the second wicket, taking the team to the score of 116. Tunnicliffe contributed 51 runs in 42 balls to the team’s account. After some time, Captain Laura returned to the pavilion with a personal score of 22.

Dane van Niekerk along with Marijne Kapp scored 47 runs in 20 balls for the fourth wicket, taking the team to 124 runs. Niekerk scored 41 runs in 19 balls with 3 sixes and as many fours, while Marijne scored 16 runs.

For the opposition team, Amy Maguire took the maximum 3 wickets, while Arlene Kelly and Orla Prendergast took 1 wicket each.

In response, the Irish team could score only 136 runs after losing 3 wickets in the stipulated overs. For this team, Orla Prendergast scored unbeaten 51 runs, while Leah Paul contributed 40 runs to the team’s account.

For South Africa, Chloe Tryon took 2 wickets, while Nonkululeko Mlaba took one wicket.
