Hyderabad, May 23 (). Father and son committed suicide on Friday in Jangaon district of Telangana. The incident took place in Bandlagudem village of Lingala Ghanpur mandal.
Lakshminarasimha Charyulu and his son Pawan Kumar Charyulu, who worked as priests at the Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple.
When the local people saw their dead bodies in the pond, they informed the police. The bodies were removed and sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. Initial police investigation has revealed that the priests took this step due to financial and family problems.
Lakshminarasimha Charyulu’s wife Sridevi died a month ago due to health issues. Police have registered the case and started further investigation.
Meanwhile, a woman was found dead in her home in Khammam district and her relatives alleged that her husband killed her for insurance money.
R. Meenakshi (28) was found hanging in her house at Gol Thanda in Tirumalaiyapalam on the outskirts of Khammam city on Friday morning.
Police arrested her husband R. Shivaji is taken into custody when an old video surfaced showing him brutally assaulting Meenakshi.
Meenakshi’s relatives alleged that Shivaji beat her to death and was trying to make it look like suicide.
They alleged that he had his eye on the life insurance policy purchased in Meenakshi’s name and that he regularly assaulted and harassed her. According to the family, there was an insurance policy worth Rs 80 lakh in Meenakshi’s name.
Hours after Meenakshi’s body was found, a video surfaced showing Shivaji beating Meenakshi with a belt. The woman was tied up, while the sound of her baby crying could be heard in the background.
According to the police, this video was recorded by a relative of Meenakshi, but it was kept hidden after the intervention and mutual agreement of the family members.
Police said that they have registered the case and started investigation. They were waiting for the post-mortem report to find out whether it was a case of suicide or murder. Police were interrogating Shivaji in connection with the investigation.
