The Oval, June 19 (). New Zealand strengthened its position at the end of the third day of the Test match being played against England at The Oval. By the end of the third day, New Zealand scored 252 runs for 3 wickets in its second innings and took the total lead to 352 runs. The Kiwi team had a lead of 100 runs on the basis of first innings.
New Zealand did not have a good start in the second innings. Opener and captain Tom Latham again flopped and was out after scoring 4 runs, while Devon Conway was out after scoring 11 runs. Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra put the team in a strong position by making a partnership of 161 runs for the third wicket. Ravindra was out after scoring 76 runs. After this Henry and Mitchell did not let any wicket fall. At the end of the day, New Zealand had scored 252 runs for 3 wickets. Nicholls was unbeaten on 119 and Mitchell was unbeaten on 32. There has been a partnership of 63 runs between the two.
Before this, England’s first innings was reduced to 291 runs. Fisher, who came to bat at number nine for England, scored an unbeaten 50 runs. New Zealand had scored 391 runs in the first innings, thanks to Glenn Phillips’ first Test century. Phillips scored 100 runs in 135 balls with the help of 18 fours. Kyle Jamieson scored 41, Tom Blundell 51, Rachin Ravindra scored 33, Tom Latham scored 27 and Henry Nicholls scored 24 runs. The Kiwi team also got 53 extra runs.
For England, Bethel took 3 wickets for 26 runs in 10 overs. Joffra Archer, Matthew Fisher, Sonny Baker took 2-2 wickets. Josh Tong got 1 wicket.
