A stampede broke out at the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kashibugga in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, in which nine devotees were killed. Many others were injured. The condition of some remains critical. Everyone has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grief over the incident. A huge crowd of devotees had started gathering at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Kashibugga in Srikakulam district from this morning on the occasion of Ekadashi. The temple was packed with devotees. Suddenly there was a stampede. Many people fell and were crushed. Those who fell could not get up. The crowd pounced on them. The entire temple complex and the surrounding area were destroyed.

People somehow managed to save their lives by running towards open spaces. A large number of police forces reached the spot and with the help of many other people, took the injured to the hospital in an ambulance. Doctors declared nine people dead after investigation. Several other injured were also admitted to hospital, some of whom are in critical condition. The number of deaths in this incident may increase further.
