New Delhi . Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who has resigned from several posts, has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla complaining against the party’s Chief Whip Kalyan Banerjee. She has accused Kalyan Banerjee of misbehavior within the Lok Sabha and disrespectful behavior against women MPs. Actually, Kakoli Ghosh had resigned from all TMC posts on May 27, although he has not given up the membership of the party. In a letter written on Thursday, Kakoli Ghosh sought permission from the Lok Sabha Speaker to lodge a formal complaint. He alleged that Kalyan Banerjee used abusive language against him inside the Lok Sabha several times. This behavior is done not only with her but also with other women MPs. Calling it ‘anti-women mentality’, he has demanded action in the matter.
In the letter, she wrote, “I seek permission to lodge a formal complaint before you. AITC MP Kalyan Banerjee has verbally abused me inside the Lok Sabha several times. This is a disrespectful attitude against women MPs and he should be punished for it.”
In political circles, this development is being linked to the growing internal differences within the Trinamool Congress. In fact, after the assembly election results, party chief Mamata Banerjee had removed Kakoli Ghosh from the post of Chief Whip of TMC and handed over this responsibility to Kalyan Banerjee. Since then, a round of allegations and counter-allegations has started within the party’s parliamentary party. On May 27, he resigned from TMC.
At present, no official response has come from Kalyan Banerjee in this matter.
Kakoli Ghosh first resigned from the post of Barasat District President of TMC and then he also resigned from all other posts in the party organization. Now he has made serious allegations against the powerful leader of TMC.
