A huge Shivalinga being taken from Chennai in Tamil Nadu to Champaran in Bihar has become a center of attraction for the people these days. This Shivalinga is currently going through NH-44 via Jabalpur and Nagpur, people are stopping and offering prayers on the way. The weight of this Shivalinga is 180,000 kg and it is 30 feet high. This huge structure is being transported on a trailer with 110 wheels. Trailer driver Arun Kumar told that they had left Chennai 23 days ago and he hoped to reach Champaran in Bihar in the next 20 days.
The consecration of this Shivalinga will take place in the Virat Ramayana temple being built in Champaran. This temple is being built in Kaithwalia village of Janakinagar in East Champaran district. Mahavir Mandir Trust Committee is constructing this temple. The main temple is 1080 feet long and 540 feet wide. There will be a total of 22 temples, of which there will be 18 peaks. The height of the peaks of the temple has been kept at 270 feet.
This Shivalinga is carved from a single stone. It was created by Vinayak Venkataraman’s company after 10 years of hard work. It has cost approximately ₹3 crore to make it. This huge Shivalinga has been created very meticulously by architect Loknath in Pattikadu village of Mahabalipuram. One special thing about it is that 1008 small Shivalingas are also carved on the main structure.
