Tripura CM emphasizes on promoting cultural sector, announces grant for development of 'Sanskriti Haat'

Agartala, November 2 (). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the state’s cultural sector needs more development to nurture local talent and preserve rich traditions.

The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 50.25 lakh for the development of infrastructure of ‘Sanskriti Haat’ in Old Agartala Block. This Haat was established by a local cultural group inspired by the famous Sonajhuri Haat of Shanti Niketan in Bolpur, West Bengal.

The Chief Minister was in West Tripura’s Nandannagar to attend an event to mark the completion of 100 weeks of the ‘Sanskriti Haat’ (cultural performance venue) at Sen Pada in Nandannagar. He said that this unique ‘Sanskriti Haat’ was officially inaugurated at the same place on December 10, 2023.

He said that I too had the privilege of coming here at that time. I am very happy to be present again in the hundredth market. Defying all odds, the organizers have been organizing this weekly haat regularly for the last 99 weeks. It has not been closed for even a week.

He said that this series of activities organized in ‘Sanskriti Haat’ has greatly benefited the culture lovers.

CM said that now people of Tripura, Bangladesh and West Bengal know about this ‘Sanskriti Haat’. It has become a very popular event. People come from different places to see it. Positive response has already been seen regarding this.

The Chief Minister also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on making women ‘Lakhpati Didi’.

He said that 1,00,8000 Lakhpati Didis have been created in Tripura. About 4,85,000 women have joined self-help groups. This is an alternative source of income. We can see that this cultural market is not only for entertainment but also for self-reliance. About 40 to 50 families have been able to improve their livelihoods by joining self-help groups by making their own products and selling food items. Along with this, the local society is also getting economic benefits. Due to this the socio-economic situation is improving.

The Chief Minister also said that none of us can survive without culture.
