New Delhi. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi met veterans of the Indian Armed Forces during his recent visit to the US. Army Chief praised the contribution of veterans. During this, he described the ex-servicemen as the ‘strong foundation stone’ of the nation and the armed forces and said that their dedication and spirit of service is becoming more inspiring with time. General Dwivedi told the ex-servicemen that even after not being in uniform, the ex-servicemen remain connected to the nation. They keep alive the values like service, sacrifice and commitment. The Army Chief said that Indian ex-servicemen settled in America are playing an important role in strengthening the people-to-people relations between India and America. His experience and perspective are helpful in deepening mutual understanding between the two countries. During his visit, General Dwivedi visited America’s prestigious Arlington National Cemetery and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers.
While offering floral tributes there, he paid tribute to the indomitable courage, sacrifice and immortal legacy of those brave soldiers. This moment was not only a mark of respect but also a mark of deep gratitude for the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers. Apart from this, the Army Chief also visited the National Defense University, where he interacted with senior military officers, teachers and course participants.
In this discussion, important topics like professional military education, strategic studies and further strengthening India-US defense cooperation were discussed. This visit has given a new direction to military cooperation between India and America as well as further strengthened the trust and partnership between the two countries.

As part of his visit, the Army Chief also conducted an aerial survey of the island of Oahu.
During this aerial tour, he observed the training infrastructure, military preparedness and various operational arrangements there. This gave them the opportunity to understand the multi-domain warfare capabilities and training system of the US Army, which will help in making future joint exercises and cooperation more effective.
