Washington. US President Donald Trump has praised the qualities of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. When asked who among these two global leaders is more difficult to deal with, he said that both are ‘powerful and smart’ and should not be considered weak. In an interview with American media outlet CBS, President Trump was asked, “Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping, who is more difficult to deal with?” So he replied that both the leaders are “tough and smart”. According to NDTV, Trump said on CBS 60 Minutes, “Look, they are both very powerful leaders. These are not people to joke with. These are people who have to be taken very seriously. They are not the ones to come and say, ‘Hey, what a beautiful day it is? Look how beautiful it is. The sun is shining, it looks great.’ These are serious people. These are people who are tough, smart leaders.”
President Trump also reiterated his claim to have ended eight wars, saying he was successful in all except the conflict in Ukraine, and expressed confidence that “this too will happen.”
The US President said, “Before the ninth month, I had stopped eight wars. The only war in which I have not yet succeeded – and that will happen – is Russia-Ukraine, which I thought would be the easiest because I have a very good relationship with President Putin.”
He added, “We have respect again as a country, and that’s how I’ve managed to stop wars. I’ve also stopped them because of trade.”
Trump claimed to have discussed the issue of nuclear disarmament with the leaders of both Russia and China, and acknowledged that both countries possess large quantities of nuclear weapons.
“I believe we need to do something about denuclearization, and I’ve talked to both President Putin and President Xi about this,” he said.
Trump confirmed his plan to conduct nuclear tests, saying, “We need to see how it works. I’m talking about tests because Russia has announced its intention to test, North Korea continues to test, and other countries do as well. We’re the only country that doesn’t test.”
When told that Moscow was testing delivery systems rather than nuclear weapons, Trump claimed that both Russia and China are conducting such tests, “but they’re not talking about it.”
