Varanasi: Crowd gathered in the biggest flower market of Purvanchal on Diwali.

Varanasi, October 20 (). The festival of Diwali is being celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the country. Meanwhile, a huge crowd of buyers was seen in the biggest flower market of Purvanchal since morning. People were seen enthusiastically purchasing flowers for temple decoration, worship and to decorate their homes. This time heavy rains damaged the flower crops, due to which the prices of flowers are skyrocketing. Still, there was no lack of enthusiasm among the buyers.

People were seen buying flowers and garlands without caring about the expensive prices. This time, enthusiasm among people regarding indigenous products is clearly visible.

Ajay said, “It is surprising to hear the price of flowers, someone is asking for Rs 1,200. But, Diwali is a festival of faith, hence shopping has to be done. Many varieties of garlands and flowers are available. Even though the prices are high, the spirit of faith among the people has not diminished. There is a crowd all around and people are shopping.”

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the market, people’s inclination towards indigenous products is clearly visible. Buyer Ankit Singh said, “There is an atmosphere of excitement in the market. People are ignoring Chinese lamps and decorative items. According to Hindu beliefs, there is a tradition of decorating the house with flower garlands, Ashoka leaves and lotus flowers. Especially the garlands suitable for pleasing Goddess Lakshmi are being sold in abundance. The crowd in the market is expected to increase further. I have come once, and now have returned again for shopping.”

Flower trader Dinesh Yadav said that this time the rain has caused huge loss to the farmers. Heavy rains affected flower production, and many flowers were damaged. This is the reason why the prices of flowers are so high in the market. Marigold and rose garlands are in highest demand, but due to inflation they are not selling much. “Still, business has been fine compared to last year.”

A buyer named Shubham said, “Diwali preparations are in full swing, but it is disappointing to hear the prices of flowers. I have been in the market since morning, but the prices are continuously increasing. Some are asking for Rs 1,000 per bundle, some for Rs 1,200. Marigold garlands are being sold at Rs 120 per piece. How should people celebrate the festival in such a situation? Still, the crowd is not less. People are shopping, but many are leaving empty handed due to inflation. are returning Are.”
