In Vastu Shastra, every direction of the house has its own special significance. Some special rules and measures related to each direction have been mentioned in the scriptures. When it comes to the *Ishaan Kon* (north-eastern corner) of the house, it is considered the most sacred place as per Vastu. In simple words, the north-eastern direction of the house is called *Ishaan Kon*. It is believed that this direction is the abode of gods and goddesses and divine powers. Therefore, building a temple or keeping anything that emits positive energy in this particular direction is considered very auspicious. If this corner is always kept clean, organized and free from unnecessary things, then there is always a positive atmosphere in the house. When the Vaastu rules related to *Ishaan Kon* are followed correctly, it brings peace to the mind and happiness and prosperity always remains in the house.
Many people do not have complete knowledge about *Ishaan Kon*. As a result, they often build their home temple anywhere. Moreover, they keep various things in the north-east corner without thinking—which is against the principles of Vaastu Shastra. Not following the rules related to *Ishaan angle* has a direct and negative impact on the entire Vaastu of the house. Today, let us know which things we should absolutely not keep in the North-East direction—even if by mistake.
According to Vastu Shastra, the following things should *not* be kept in the north-eastern direction of the house:
footwear and dustbin
Since the north-eastern direction is considered the most sacred corner of the house, shoes, slippers or slippers should not be kept here at all – even if unknowingly. Moreover, one should try his best to ensure that there is no dustbin or any kind of dirt at this place. Due to the presence of such things, negativity comes into the house and the entire atmosphere of the house gets spoiled. According to Vaastu rules, this space should be kept completely clean at all times and there should not be too much stuff kept here, so that this space remains light and spacious.
Do not keep heavy things in the north-east corner.
Often, in an attempt to make proper use of the space in the house, people keep various things in the north-east corner. However, as per the principles of Vastu Shastra, placing heavy objects in the North-East direction should be strictly avoided under any circumstances. It is believed that placing heavy objects—like cabinets, beds, or anything made of iron—in this direction upsets the balance of positive energy within the house. As a result, the flow of positive energy also starts getting disrupted.
Do not keep these broken objects in the north-east corner.
According to the principles of Vastu Shastra, broken idols of gods and goddesses should never be kept in the north-east corner. Similarly, if you have a picture of any deity which is torn or very old, then it should also not be kept in this direction. Keeping such things in this corner is not considered auspicious. While making a place of worship or a temple in the north-east corner, ensure that you install only perfect (without any breaks) idols and pictures.
How to maintain positivity in the north-east corner
If you make a conscious effort to keep the north-east corner of your home constantly positive, you will always feel at peace. Furthermore, it will invite positive energy into the home. Always keep the north-east area clean and organized. Ideally, the walls or curtains in this area should be of light colors.
