Kolkata . After the murder of PA Chandranath Rath in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has tried to pacify the party workers. He has asked the party workers to exercise restraint and refrain from taking law into their own hands and taking any retaliatory action. Speaking to media persons at the ‘Viva City Hospital’ complex in Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district, Suvendu Adhikari said that despite the outrage over this brutal incident, BJP supporters should have faith in the investigation being conducted by the police, exercise restraint and avoid any retaliatory action by taking the law into their own hands. He said, “There is a strong possibility of political connections behind this murder. I do not want to make any further comment on this issue at this time. I have discussed with the state Director General of Police Siddharth Nath Gupta. He told me that the investigating officers have got some clues from the CCTV footage near the murder site. Let us have faith in the police investigation. But in this hour of grief, it is my humble appeal to our party workers to exercise restraint and not take the law into their own hands. Please maintain peace.”
Suvendu Adhikari said that the party will take full responsibility of Chandranath’s family. He also promised that the party will take responsibility for the treatment of Chandranath’s driver Buddhadev Bera. Buddhadev Bera was also shot, whose condition is still critical.
However, on this incident, Trinamool Congress has issued a statement on its social media handle and demanded a CBI investigation under the supervision of the court.
TMC said in its statement, “We demand the strongest possible action in this case, including a court-monitored CBI investigation, so that the culprits are identified and brought to justice without any delay. Violence and political killings have no place in a democracy and the culprits must be held accountable as soon as possible.”
