The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of Faridabad-based Al-Falah University. This arrest has been made as part of the investigation into the links that came to light during the investigation of the terrorist attack near the Red Fort in Delhi. Delhi attack mastermind Dr. Muzammil and terrorist Umar Nabi were earlier associated with Al-Falah University. 19 locations of Al-Falah University Group were raided and ED seized ₹48 lakh (about $15 lakh). The investigation revealed fraudulent activities involving students using fake NAAC accreditation and embezzlement of crores of rupees from the trust. Who is Javed Ahmed Siddiqui?
Javed Siddiqui, originally from Madhya Pradesh, graduated from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. In 1992, Javed Siddiqui started working as a director at Al Falah Investment Company. After this he founded Al Falah Trust. His business gradually expanded into the fields of education, software, financial services and energy, although many of these companies later closed down. The Al Falah Medical Research Foundation, which operates on the 70-acre Al Falah University campus in Faridabad’s Dhauj village, is currently under investigation.

Javed Siddiqui, founder of Al-Falah University, has previously been accused of financial irregularities. In 2000, a case of investment fraud was registered in New Friends Colony in south-east Delhi. After this, Javed Siddiqui was arrested in 2001. In 2004, he was granted bail on the condition of returning the investors’ money. According to officials, the Crime Branch is now re-investigating these old cases against Javed Siddiqui.
