In the video, Tejas was performing barrel rolls and negative-G turns at low altitude. Suddenly, the balance was lost, and the plane started falling. At exactly 49-52 seconds, a fire broke out. A small parachute-like thing was visible – meaning Wing Commander Syal had pressed the eject button at the last moment. But the altitude was only a few meters, and the parachute did not open.
The pilot first tried to save the plane
Experts say – Namansh Syal first tried his best to control the plane. Tejas has a very good record, so they thought maybe he could save it. When nothing happened, he was ejected, but it was too late.
Tejas’s first fatal accident
This is the first time that a Tejas pilot has lost his life in his 10 years of service. The previous accident took place near Jaisalmer in March 2024, where the pilots ejected safely.
