Work should be done towards developing Jaipur as a signal-free city: V. Srinivas

Jaipur. To ensure well-organized urban development with departmental coordination, transparency and timeliness, effective plans should be implemented with the needs of the times, far-reaching thinking and creative approach. Chief Secretary V. Srinivas gave these instructions to the officials during the state level review meeting held at Rajasthan International Centre. In the meeting, keeping in view the rapidly increasing urbanization in the state, the action plans and progress to make urban development systematic, transparent and in line with future needs were reviewed. Along with this, various policies, rules and procedures related to urban development were discussed in detail. The Chief Secretary conducted a comprehensive review of important policy topics including Regulatory Framework, Rajasthan Township Policy, Rajasthan Land Allotment Policy and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Policy-2025 and laid special emphasis on their effective and coordinated implementation. He said that urban development can be given the right direction only by adopting a planned, coordinated and long-term approach.
Emphasizing the need for future-oriented urban development, Srinivas directed to work seriously on concrete and practical proposals towards developing Jaipur as a signal-free city. He said that modern urban transport system and well-organized traffic management will not only save time and fuel but will also significantly improve the quality of life of the citizens.
Describing the impact assessment of building bye-laws as extremely important, the Chief Secretary directed that before and after the implementation of any policy or rule, its actual impact should be compulsorily evaluated in the context of the common people and the urban structure. Along with this, emphasis was laid on ensuring timely third party inspection in construction works, so that quality, safety and transparency are maintained. Special attention was also paid to improving office work culture in the meeting.
While giving instructions for timely sorting of records and disposal of unnecessary records, the Chief Secretary said that this will increase efficiency and the decision process will become more quick and effective. He also gave instructions to maintain the cleanliness system in all the offices.
Giving instructions to settle the pending court cases related to high value government land on priority basis, the Chief Secretary said that such land is an important asset of the state, for which prompt and concrete action is necessary from the point of view of conservation, proper utilization and revenue interests.
The Chief Secretary directed all the concerned departments to give top priority to mutual coordination, transparency and timeliness for effective implementation of policies related to urban development, so that the cities of Rajasthan can move towards smart, sustainable and citizen-centric development.
