A panchayat in Bihar’s Supaul invited bids for the release of a loving couple and the price was fixed at Rs 2 lakh. Even before the price could be decided, the boyfriend and girlfriend were tied up and beaten. This shameful incident happened in Tulsipatti village of Balua Bazar police station area of Supaul.
The villagers tied a loving couple to a tree and beat them mercilessly. Someone made a video of the beating and shared it on social media. As soon as the video went viral, the police came into action and started investigating the matter.
What happened in the village?
According to sources, on Sunday the villagers saw a Maulvi and a married woman in a suspicious condition. It is said that Maulvi teaches children in the village. As soon as the villagers got information about the incident, they got angry and caught him and tied him to a tree. After this the mob beat the Maulvi brutally, while the woman stood nearby in panic.
Gram Panchayat was called immediately after the incident. Local sources claim that the Panchayat imposed a fine of around Rs 2 lakh and hushed up the matter. However, someone uploaded the video of the beating on social media, due to which the incident became widely discussed.
This incident has once again raised questions on the justice of the Panchayat. In this Panchayat, the crowd was seen ignoring the law and giving decisions like the judiciary.
