The 8th Pay Commission is holding meetings in different parts of the country to collect suggestions (inputs) from different employee organizations, unions, existing employees, pensioners and other concerned parties. In this connection, two-day consultation meetings have been organized in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 22nd and 23rd. Earlier, meetings have also been held in Delhi, Hyderabad, Srinagar and Ladakh.
Information regarding the meetings to be held in Lucknow was released on the official website of the 8th Pay Commission on May 21, 2026. This visit of this Commission, constituted by the Central Government on November 3, 2025, is an important step towards finalizing the salary, allowances and pension of more than 1.1 crore Central Government employees and pensioners across the country.

According to the information, during the two-day long meetings to be held in Lucknow, representatives of employee organizations are expected to present their views before the Commission on the minimum basic pay and new fitment factor. They may demand increase in fitment factor; He says that the 7th Pay Commission had fixed the fitment factor at 2.57, which now they want to increase to between 3.68 to 3.83. If the Commission accepts the demand for fitment factor of 3.83, the minimum basic pay of central government employees will directly increase from the current ₹18,000 to ₹69,000 per month.
