After the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission, where 1.14 crore government employees and pensioners have questions regarding salary, pension, dearness allowance etc., many types of messages are also going viral on social media. One such message is circulating these days, in which it is being claimed that the Central Government has stopped the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Pay Commission benefits for retired employees (pensioners) under the Finance Act 2025. This message along with a document is spreading rapidly on WhatsApp. This message has created confusion and anxiety among lakhs of pensioners and government employees.
What is the truth behind the viral message?
The government has given clarification regarding the message going viral on social media. The central government’s information agency, PIB (Press Information Bureau), has investigated this viral claim and termed it completely fake. PIB Fact Check has clarified that the Central Government has not taken any decision to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) for retired employees or stop Pay Commission benefits.
Changes have been made in CCS pension rules, but…
PIB further said that Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 has been amended, but this amendment pertains only to a specific situation. The amended rule states that if a government employee is fired for misconduct after joining a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), his retirement benefits will be terminated.
Which employees will not get benefits?
It has been clearly stated that only those employees of government companies, who have been fired from the job due to wrongful conduct like corruption, indiscipline or other reasons, will not get retirement benefits. This amendment primarily concerns the malpractice of employees transferred from government departments to PSUs and not the stopping of DA or pension benefits of all retired employees.
Government employees should not be afraid of such messages
It is clear that the claim of depriving pensioners of their DA or Pay Commission benefits is baseless. The central government has not implemented any such rules. Government employees and pensioners are advised not to rely on misleading and unverified information circulating on WhatsApp or social media and rely only on official government sources for verification of any information.
