If you are thinking of going to the bank today to deposit cash, clear a cheque, update your passbook or do other important work, then before leaving the house, definitely check whether the banks are open or closed. Like every month, there may be a little confusion about this. Seeing the list of holidays in advance can save both your time and effort.
Are banks open or closed today, 25th July 2026?
As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, government and private sector banks across the country remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Since today, July 25, 2026, is the fourth Saturday of the month, bank branches will remain closed across the country.
In contrast, banks remain open as normal working days on the 1st, 3rd and – where applicable – 5th Saturdays. However, banks may remain closed in a particular state if a holiday has been declared for that state in the RBI holiday list.
Check the list of holidays before going to the bank
If you have to go to the bank branch for any important work today or in the coming days, then first check the list of bank holidays of RBI. Bank holidays vary from state to state; It is possible that in one state banks may be closed due to local festivals or special occasions, while in another state they may be functioning normally. If you have advance information, you can avoid the trouble of making unnecessary trips to the bank.
What services are available when banks are closed?
The closure of bank branches does not mean that all banking services stop. Digital banking facilities will continue to function as usual. Customers can send and receive money, check balance and pay bills through UPI, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and the Bank’s mobile app. The facility to withdraw cash from ATM will also be available as usual. However, if the Bank has scheduled any maintenance work, some digital services may be affected for some time. In such situations, banks usually inform their customers in advance.
What tasks can be done using mobile banking and net banking?
If you have activated the net banking or mobile banking services of your bank, then you can easily complete many important tasks even on holidays. You can check your balance anytime, transfer money, make online payments and use many other banking services. Apart from this, many banks offer facilities like opening new accounts, updating KYC information, applying for loans and debit card related work.
For which purposes is it necessary to go to the bank branch?
There are some banking tasks which can be completed only by visiting the bank branch. These include submitting or updating KYC documents related to proof of identity, proof of address, PAN, Aadhaar or signature. Also, tasks like depositing or withdrawing cash beyond the ATM limit, resolving complaints that require physical verification, or submitting death certificate and other necessary documents for a claim related to the account of a deceased account holder have to be done at the bank branch only.
Banks will remain closed across the country on 26th July
After July 25, there will be a weekly holiday on July 26 (Sunday). At the end of the weekend, banks will remain closed across the country on Sunday. Apart from this, there is no special bank holiday scheduled in any state between July 26 and August 1. However, local holidays may vary from state to state; Therefore, it is better to check the RBI holidays list if needed.
