The year 2026 has started. Nine days have passed. Today is February 10, and it is Saturday. Because today is Saturday, many people are confused about whether banks will be open or closed. This is because banks are closed on two Saturdays every month. If you are also planning to go to the bank today and are confused about whether banks are open or closed on January 10, 2026, then this news is for you.
Is today a bank holiday: Are banks open on 10th January?
Many bank customers are wondering whether banks will remain open on January 10. The answer is no. Since January 10 is the second Saturday of the month, banks will remain closed across India as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). If you are planning to go to the bank, then do not go today because the banks are closed. If you go you will not get any service.
As per RBI rules, all scheduled banks – public sector, private banks, regional rural banks and cooperative banks – remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month except Sunday. Therefore, physical banking services like branch visits, counter check clearance and direct customer support will not be available on January 10. However, customers can continue to use digital banking services without any interruption. Online banking, mobile apps, UPI transactions, ATM withdrawals and card payments will work normally.
Banks will remain closed for 16 days in January
In January 2026, banks will remain closed for a total of 16 days in different states across the country. According to the latest calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 10 days at different places, apart from four Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays next month.
