Big change in Indian Railways: 40 years old reservation system will change, watch the video. AI will tell the possibility of ticket confirmation.

Indian Railways is going to make a major technical change in its passenger convenience system. The country’s nearly 40-year-old passenger reservation system will now be completely upgraded and a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based system will be implemented in its place. According to the information received from the Railway Ministry, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held a high-level meeting with senior railway officials on Monday. In this meeting, there was a detailed discussion on making the passenger booking system more modern, faster and transparent.

Under the new system, AI technology will help in predicting whether a passenger’s waitlisted ticket will be confirmed or not. This will enable passengers to get a better idea of their travel status in advance and uncertainty will be reduced to a great extent. Officials have been instructed to shift trains to the new upgraded system in a phased manner from August 2026. Initially it will be implemented on some routes and later expanded to the entire country.

The present Railway Reservation System was started in the year 1986, which was designed according to the needs of that time. Many small technical improvements have been made in it over the last four decades, but its basic structure has remained largely the same. Now, it is being completely redesigned in view of the increasing number of passengers and the needs of the digital age. According to railway officials, the new system will not only change the booking process, but will also better predict traffic patterns, waiting lists and seat availability with the help of data analytics and AI models. This is expected to make train operations and seat management more efficient.

Experts believe that passengers will get the biggest benefit from this change in the form of transparency and convenience. Till now, passengers have to wait till the last moment for the status of waiting tickets, but in the new system, information about possible confirmation will be available in advance. Railway Ministry says that this step is an important initiative towards making Indian Railways in line with the digital age. In the coming time, more technical improvements are likely to be made in ticket booking, train planning and passenger services. Overall, this step of the Railways is being considered a major change in the direction of connecting the country’s largest transport system with modern technology, which is expected to directly benefit crores of passengers.
