According to the Labor Ministry, the facility to withdraw money directly from PF account through UPI and ATM will be started before March 2026. Preparations are progressing rapidly. Therefore, PF account holders will soon get this facility at just one click. Now, let us understand how this will be possible?

How to withdraw PF money from ATM?

First of all, it is important to understand that currently there is no option available to link PF account with UPI. When EPFO launches this facility, an online process will be provided. It is expected that this facility will be available on both the EPFO member portal and UMANG app. To link the PF account with UPI, the most important condition will be that the UAN (Universal Account Number) should be active. Along with this, it will be necessary to link the member’s Aadhaar, bank account and PAN with UAN. The mobile number should also be linked to Aadhaar and bank account, as the entire process will be based on OTP verification. Although EPFO has not yet issued any guidelines regarding this process, it is expected that members will have to log in to the EPFO portal or UMANG app. A new option will appear there, like ‘Link PF to UPI’ or ‘Withdraw PF through UPI’. After clicking on this option, the member has to enter his UPI ID. A notification will then be sent to the respective UPI app, such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM, where the member will have to give permission to link their PF account. Once the verification is complete, the PF account will be successfully linked to UPI. After this the amount can be transferred directly through UPI. However, EPFO has not yet confirmed this process.

PF amount can be withdrawn immediately

The government says that PF-UPI linking will provide a lot of relief to the people, which will make it easier to withdraw PF amount, and this process will be completely digital and transparent. For this, EPFO members will have to complete and update their KYC. The Union Minister said that even under the existing rules, members can withdraw 75% of their EPF amount immediately. The remaining 25% of the PF amount is kept to ensure the continuity of employees’ jobs and to allow them to avail of the interest earned on their PF.
