China on Indian Medicine: Donald Trump imposed 100 % tariff on branded medicine, good news from China for India, neighboring country will no longer take import duty on medicine, China Completely Removes Import Duty on Indian Medicines Affter 100 Percent Tariff by Trump

New Delhi. US President Donald Trump has imposed 100 % tariff on branded medicines abroad. After Trump’s move, the export of medicines from India seemed to be affecting there. At the same time, it is now reported that China has completely abolished 30 percent import duty on medicines made in India. From 1 October 2025, there will be no import duty on medicines exported from India to China. If there is difficulty in selling India’s medicines in America, then it will be compensated by China. The abolition of import duty from China can lead to more drug exports from India to the neighboring country. As a result, the benefit of companies making India’s drug may increase.

India is called the world’s pharmacy. This is because many medicines are made in India. Many of these are generics. Branded drugs are rarely exported from India to America. Most generic drugs are sent to the US from India. However, Trump’s decision to impose 100 per cent tariffs on branded drugs is expected to create problems for many renowned drug manufacturing companies in India. In FY 2024-2025, India sent a drug worth Rs 77000 crore to the US. At the same time, India had exported drugs worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore worldwide. Talking about this year, in six months, 32505 crore drugs have been exported to Indian companies.

Donald Trump has applied tariffs on branded medicine as well as tariffs on kitchen cabinet, bathroom vanity, heavy trucks and mattress furniture. Trump has already put a 50 percent tariff on India. Because of this, all the things exported from India to America have become expensive in Trump’s country. This is expected to affect India’s economy. Actually, Trump wants India to open its market completely to the US. So that they can also sell food items and dairy products here. India has categorically denied this. PM Narendra Modi has publicly announced that his government will not allow the farmers, dairy industries and fishermen of India to hurt the service sector.
